Short answer

We answer the phone 24 hours a day and aim to be with you in 60–90 minutes. There is no call-out fee: you pay for the first hour on site and nothing to get us there. If the fault is dangerous we make it safe before we quote anything.

You need us if

  • Burning smell, scorch marks or a buzzing consumer unit
  • Total loss of power when the neighbours still have theirs
  • A breaker or RCD that trips again the moment you reset it
  • Exposed, damaged or water-damaged wiring
  • Sparking sockets, switches or light fittings
  • Shocks or tingling from a tap, appliance or metal fitting

What's included

  • 24/7 answered phone — a working electrician, not a call centre
  • Attendance in 60–90 minutes across our patch
  • Make-safe first: isolate the fault before anything else
  • Fault traced and explained in plain English before we quote
  • Most faults repaired on the first visit from van stock
  • Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate on completion

Questions

Emergency call-out — what people ask

How much does an emergency electrician charge?
We charge £95 for the first hour on site, including diagnosis, then £65 per hour after that. There is no call-out fee and no premium for evenings, weekends or bank holidays — the price at 3am is the price at 3pm. If parts are needed we tell you the cost before fitting them.
What counts as an electrical emergency?
Anything that could start a fire or give someone a shock: burning smells, scorch marks, sparking, exposed live conductors, water reaching electrics, or shocks from taps and appliances. A breaker that trips repeatedly also counts — it is protecting you from a real fault. A single dead socket or a blown light usually is not, and can wait for a normal appointment at a lower rate.
How long does it take for an emergency electrician to come out?
We aim to be with you in 60 to 90 minutes anywhere in Clapham, Battersea, Balham, Wandsworth, Brixton and Streatham. Traffic across south London is the main variable. When you call we will give you an honest arrival window rather than an optimistic one, and we will tell you if someone else can get there faster.
Should I turn the power off myself before you arrive?
If you can do it safely, yes. Switch off at the main switch on your consumer unit, or turn off the individual circuit breaker for the affected circuit. Do not touch anything that is wet, hot, scorched or sparking, and do not open the consumer unit. If there is smoke or flame, leave the property and call 999 first.
Do you charge extra at night or at weekends?
No. We deliberately price one rate around the clock. Charging double at midnight punishes people for having an emergency at an inconvenient hour, and it is the single most common complaint about emergency electricians in London.
