The signature Battersea fault is an RCD in one flat tripping when a completely different flat in the same converted house uses an appliance — caused by borrowed neutrals, where the conversion split circuits between flats without splitting them properly. It looks impossible until you test the whole house rather than the one flat, which is why the previous electrician often failed to find it.
