Rewiring in the Shaftesbury Park streets is complicated by the conservation area status — the estate is protected, and the original cornice, picture rails and staircase joinery are exactly what people buy these houses for. We route through floor voids and existing conduit wherever possible rather than chasing walls, which takes longer but saves plasterwork that cannot be replaced. Flats converted in the 1980s are usually a partial rewire rather than a full one: the kitchen and bathroom circuits from the conversion are often fine, and only the original lighting needs replacing.

Getting to you in Battersea
